Multitude EP é o segundo trabalho do artista Formafluida. As cinco faixas, que somam 25 minutos, exibem um panorama multifacetado da música eletrônica contemporânea. Nele, a cibernética justifica conexões inusitadas entre universos distintos: cyberpunk, glitch art, pós-modernidade, cultura indígena, anime, internet.

Em 1948, o matemático e filósofo Robert Wiener descreveu a cibernética – ciência em gestação na época -, como "o estudo sobre controle e comunicação no animal e na máquina". Durante mais de meio século, esse método transdisciplinar possibilitou desenvolvimentos em robótica, inteligência artificial, computação e arte.

"Na criação, encarei esse álbum como se ele fosse uma série de sistemas, que se tangiam em algum momento", diz Lucas Dimitri, produtor. "A ideia era mostrar que essa diversidade de influências tem uma natureza antropofágica", explica. "A arte do projeto foi caminhando junto. De repente, a gente foi descobrindo relações. A pintura corporal indígena, por exemplo: se você imaginar um grafismo Kayapó em três dimensões, ele parece um chip de processador. Um losango sugere um quadrado em 3-D. É tudo uma questão de perspectiva, na verdade."

Multitude EP é um álbum que explora diferentes climas e texturas, alternando entre o timbre cortante dos baixos digitais e a estética natural das guitarras amplificadas. A faixa título, 'Multitude', inicia a experiência, com o bater de sinos e vidros estilhaçando. Os vocais são suaves, mas complementam a mensagem: "A fragment of your sorrow / Fell through my open mouth / Came slashing the tip of my tongue / It tasted like the bitter of gold". Em seguida, 'Sense of Wonder' traz um tropicalismo distorcido, entre o ritmo percussivo das guitarras afrobeat e o ruido insistente do white noise. 'Zeitgeist' mantém o diálogo com o universo digital, numa linha de baixo que aproxima-se do garage e do dubstep. "Future can wait", avisa. ‘Imageluv’ ilustra um romance robótico, numa atmosfera misteriosa que explode em transe, homenagem ao house dos anos 90. Ao fim da jornada, 'We've Never Been Awake' encerra o álbum dividido entre a experiência digital e o mundo real: "Would you wake me up?"

Alternando entre planos, Multitude EP liga pontos em universos distintos. Bidimensional e tridimensional; polígonos e poliedros coexistem na mesma representação de realidade. Multidão imagética, costurada pelo fio urbano, multicultural, paulistano, brasileiro. Primitivo, tecnológico. Animal e máquina.

Multitude EP is the second work of the artist Formafluida. Its five tracks, which sum up 25 minutes, exhibits a multifaceted panorama of contemporary electronic music. Within this work, cybernetics justifies unusual connections between different universes, such as cyberpunk, glitch art, post-modern thinking, native culture, anime, internet.

In 1948, mathematician and philosopher Robert Wiener described cybernetics – a gestating science at the time – as “the study about control and communication on the animal and the machine”. For more than half a century, this trans disciplinary method allowed developments in robotics, artificial intelligence, computing and arts.

“In its creation, I faced this album as if it were a set of systems, that touched each other at some point”, says Lucas Dimitri, producer. “The idea was to show that the diversity of influences has an anthropophagic nature, which only makes sense if we talk about Brazilian culture”, explains. “The project’s art came along with the songwriting. We were making connections. If you take native body painting, for example: if you imagine a two dimensional pattern in three dimensions, it looks like a processor chip. A lozenge suggests a square in 3-D. It’s all a matter of perspective, actually”.

Multitude EP is an album that explores different moods and textures, switching between razor sharp basslines and the natural aesthetics of amped guitars. Its title track, ‘Multitude’, begins the experience, with the toll of bells and shattering glass. The vocals are soothing but reinforces the message: “A fragment of your sorrow / Fell through my open mouth / Came slashing the tip of my tongue / It tasted like the bitter of gold”. Following, ‘Sense of Wonder’ brings a distorted tropicalism, amidst the percussive rhythm of afrobeat guitars and the insistent drone of white noise. ‘Zeitgeist’ keeps the dialog with the digital universe going, with a bassline that resembles the sounds of garage and dubstep. "Future can wait", it warns. ‘Imageluv” illustrates a robotic romance, on a mysterious atmosphere that explodes in trance, a homage to 90’s house music. At the end of the journey, 'We've Never Been Awake' wraps up the album torn between the digital experience and he real world. "Would you wake me up?"

Switching through planes, Multitude EP connects dots between distinct universes. Bidimensional and tridimensional; polygon and polyether coexist in the same representation of reality. Imagery multitude, tied together by an urban thread, multicultural, from São Paulo, from Brazil. Primitive, technologic. Animal and machine.
